Tracks and Breakwaters by Ethan Sauceda, Philippines

A road where rain turns all umbrellas black
Is a place where one fears
The fear of being by himself

On the train that crosses forever
And passes everywhere
We look at someone whose sanity she left at home
And we let out a sound more teasing
Than all the sound of bitterness
Wondering why we are still sane

I withdraw from where I can see trains
And streets with people
Hiding under a canopy of blackness
Without waving a hand
Or bidding anyone goodbye

Without saying sorry
Or thank you for everything

Ask the planets not to dictate
My sense of time
The colors through hatchways
What to do or where to go

I stay up elsewhere until I can
And sleep here until my eyes can still close

Like some soul who left his reason somewhere
Piece by piece with the drops of rain
I am forgiven for forgetting
The sound from the tracks
And the heart's breakwaters
