I'm Misting by Kenneth Pobo, USA

I’M MISTING

the orchids, exquisite but they lack
warm personalities. Oh,

it has to be just the way
I like it
, the cattleya says. No,
the way I like it
, the dendrobium says.
Loki flops in the Lazy Boy. Krishna
fixes a pot of tea. Athena shaves

her legs in my shower. I’d prefer
the gods to buzz off. Some get crabby,
prefer to futz with us than
each other—sometimes I don’t
believe in orchids or gods,

yet there they are, demanding,
sometimes beautiful.

KENNETH POBO has a new online chapbook called Fitting Parts published by Philistine Press. In December 2009, Main Street Rag published his chapbook called Trina and the Sky.
