ONE THING UNFINISHED
A sequence
of humid winds
warmly enters the marina
furled masts unfurl
yachts, sailboats
catamarans clatter
large winged birds
sleeping on the tops
of booms and spars
wake up squawking
lift from their nests
rise
the sultry blows
blows, blows forward
a briny gull wind
then stops
ends one thing
unfinished
without starting
another
yet
hurries it closer.
A DREAM DREAMS
Uninvited
you pull apart my dream
and step into it
it’s you
I’d know you anywhere
the way you interrupt
like a Cheshire Cat
coming into yourself
one stripe at a time
or it could be your dream
and I am the one
who enters
no matter
drawn aside
is a silk curtain
colored hallucinatory
abnormal in its curiosity
a dream dreams of dreaming
until one of us vanishes
into a smile.
